An art major in the 60’s at the University of Michigan, Lytha left school to become a wife, mother and later a Realtor. In 1999, a weeklong workshop by Florida artist, Gayle Bennett taught in Giverney, France, home of Claude Monet, reawakened Lytha’s passion for art, color and painting. This experience showed that Lytha was a colorist, a term Bennett bestowed on her the first day of painting. Since then she has continued to take workshops and has attended Florida Gulf Coast University, Minneapolis College of Art and Design and is now completing a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at North Georgia College. The combination of influence by workshop leaders and professors has taught her to see what is in front of her and create what is inside her. These influences have encouraged her to paint big, free, loose and open. Lytha enjoys teaching and shares what she has learned giving classes and workshops.

“Painting is a passion," says Lytha, "I paint everything! My work is acrylic, varies in style and is full of color. I love expressing color in many forms!” Her paintings today might be called” impressionistic realism”. (see Lytha’s Gallery) She also does primitive paintings by commission, of homes, cabins and businesses. (see Primitive Art) For five years Lytha and a friend, operated a Sanibel Island business that used their talents to enhance a theme, create new surroundings and bring playfulness, charm and color to convert space to a new environment. Their work was seen at large events and fundraisers for the American Cancer Society, local theaters, museums and hospitals in Florida. (see Art by Lytha and Sally). Lytha is a past member of several art associations in Florida and a current member of the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association, Southern Appalachian Artist Guild, Blue Ridge, GA. and GAHA, Ellijay, Georgia.

Lytha’s real estate career specializing in resort property has carried her from the Finger Lakes of New York to the islands of southwest Florida and now to Blue Ridge, GA. Each place has offered incredible natural beauty to stimulate the creative mind.
